AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE US DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY'S OFFICE OF CLEAN ENERGY DEMONSTRATIONS FOR THE ENERGY IMPROVEMENT IN RURAL OR REMOTE AREAS PROGRAM

                     By Conservation, Sustainability, and Green Initiatives Committee:

 

                     WHEREAS, The Office of the Albany County Executive has requested authorization for the submission of a grant application to the US Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstration regarding the Energy Improvement in Rural or Remote Areas Program in an amount up to $4,900,000, and

                     WHEREAS, The County Executive has indicated that the funding, if awarded, will be used to implement the Albany County Scalable Community Aggregation for Lower cost of Energy (AC-SCALE), which aims to implement energy-efficient and clean energy technologies in rural and vulnerable communities, and

                     WHEREAS, AC-SCALE will deploy Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), including but not limited to solar-PV, battery energy storage systems, heat pump water heaters, and smart thermostats to enhance residential energy efficiency and provide grid services, and

                     WHEREAS, The implementation of AC-SCALE is designed to improve energy resiliency in impacted communities, retrofit properties, and increase the overall energy efficiency of residential properties, now, therefore, be it

 

                     RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application to the US Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstration regarding the Energy Improvement in Rural or Remote Areas Program in an amount up to $4,900,000, and, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said grant application as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
