AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION AND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE GOVERNOR’S TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE REGARDING THE HIGHWAY SAFETY PROGRAM

WHEREAS, The District Attorney has requested authorization to submit a grant application and enter into an agreement with the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee regarding the Highway Safety Program in the amount of $139,350 for the term commencing October 1, 2022 and ending September 31, 2023, and

 

WHEREAS, The District Attorney indicated that the funding will be used to support staff salaries and educational programs for the Vehicular Crimes Unit, increase the just and effective prosecution of vehicular crimes by providing basic and advanced levels of training and technical assistance to prosecutors and law enforcement officers throughout Albany County, and help the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee reach its statewide traffic safety goals, now, therefore, be it

 

                     RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application and enter into an agreement with the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee regarding the Highway Safety Program in the amount of $139,350 for the term commencing October 1, 2022 and ending September 31, 2023, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
