AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE TO ENTER INTO AN INTERMUNICIPAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF ALBANY TO HONOR VETERANS

WHEREAS, The Albany County Veterans Services Bureau has a long history of supporting our Armed Forces and honoring the sacrifices they made during their service, and

 

WHEREAS, While almost all municipalities throughout Albany County have hung up banners along their streets that honor their veterans, the City of Albany has no such program, and

 

WHEREAS, The Albany County Veterans Services Bureau has built strong ties to local veteran’s services organizations including American Legions and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFWs) that will be beneficial in selecting veterans to honor, and

 

WHEREAS, Money was allocated in the 2024 Albany County Budget Veterans Services Bureau to be used for the purchase of banners honoring veterans from the City of Albany, now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an intermunicipal agreement regarding the installation of banners to honor veterans who reside or have resided in the City of Albany, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
