AUTHORIZING AN INTERDEPARTMENTAL AGREEMENT REGARDING THE SAFE HARBOR INITIATIVE

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department for Children, Youth and Families has requested authorization to enter into an interdepartmental agreement with the Albany County Crime Victims and Sexual Violence Center (ACCVSVC) in an amount not to exceed $17,875 regarding the Safe Harbor Initiative for a term commencing October 1, 2022 and ending December 31, 2022, and
WHEREAS, The Safe Harbor Initiative focuses on establishing a framework to increase the identification of potential trafficking victims, creating capacity for services in local infrastructures, and to support direct services to those victims, and
WHEREAS, the ACCVSVC will implement the Safe Harbor program and the aforementioned funding will support the salary of the part-time Safe Harbor Coordinator and help meet the needs of the youth involved with sex trafficking or victims of crimes, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is also authorized to execute an interdepartmental agreement with the ACCVSVC in an amount not to exceed $17,875 regarding the Safe Harbor Initiative for a term commencing October 1, 2022 and ending December 31, 2022, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
