RESOLUTION NO. 471

 

AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO AND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES REGARDING THE 2024-2025 LAW ENFORCEMENT TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM AND AMENDING THE 2024 SHERIFF'S OFFICE BUDGET

WHEREAS, The Albany County Sheriff has requested authorization to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services regarding the 2024-2025 Law Enforcement Technology Program in the amount of $355,147 for a term commencing April 1, 2024 and ending March 31, 2025, and

 

                     WHEREAS, The Sheriff has indicated that the grant funding will be used to acquire new technology to improve accountability, evidentiary documentation, and public safety, including radio equipment, two unmanned aerial vehicles, a new intoximeter for the STOP DWI Program, and 20 Axon fleet in-car cameras, and

 

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has also requested a budget amendment to incorporate the aforementioned funding into the 2024 Sheriff’s Office Budget, now, therefore, be it

 

                     RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services regarding the 2024-2025 Law Enforcement Technology Program in the amount of $355,147 for a term commencing April 1, 2024 and ending March 31, 2025, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the 2024 Sheriff’s Office Budget is amended as follows:

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said grant application and agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
