DESIGNATING THE ALBANY COUNTY CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU, INC. AS ALBANY COUNTY’S OFFICIAL SPORTS COMMISSION

By Public Works Committee, Messrs. Commisso and Miller:

 

WHEREAS, The Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc. a/k/a Discover Albany, has been informally serving as a critical link between government and various sports industries, and

 

WHEREAS, The County Executive has requested that the Legislature designate Discover Albany as the official Sports Commission for Albany County, in order to demonstrate the County’s full commitment to sports and the positive impact they bring to local services and businesses in our community, and

 

WHEREAS, This Honorable Body has a strong track record of supporting local businesses and economic development, now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature, that the Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau, In., a/k/a Discover Albany is hereby designated as Albany County’s official Sports Commission, for the promotion of sports projects and events throughout Albany County, for a term commencing immediately and ending December 31, 2024, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials and the Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
