AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO AND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES REGARDING THE FY2022 TECHNICAL RESCUE AND URBAN SEARCH AND RESCUE GRANT PROGRAM AND AMENDING THE 2025 SHERIFF’S OFFICE BUDGET

By Public Safety Committee:

 

                     WHEREAS, The Sheriff has requested authorization to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services regarding the FY2022 Technical Rescue and Urban Search and Rescue Grant Program in the amount of $50,000 for the term commencing August 1, 2025 and ending August 31, 2026, and

 

                     WHEREAS, The Sheriff has indicated that the funding will be shared with the City of Albany Fire Department, Town of Colonie Emergency Medical Services, and the Slingerlands Fire Department to assist with the purchase of rescue equipment, and

 

                     WHEREAS, The Sheriff has also requested authorization to amend the 2025 Sheriff’s Office Budget to appropriate the funding, now, therefore, be it

 

                     RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services regarding the FY2022 Technical Rescue and Urban Search and Rescue Grant Program in the amount of $50,000 for the term commencing August 1, 2025 and ending August 31, 2026, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the 2025 Sheriff’s Office Budget is amended as follows:

 

 

and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said application and agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
