AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE OFFICE OF INDIGENT LEGAL SERVICES REGARDING THE FOURTH UPSTATE QUALITY IMPROVEMENT AND CASELOAD REDUCTION GRANT

WHEREAS, The Public Defender has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services regarding the Fourth Upstate Quality Improvement and Caseload Reduction Grant in the amount of $300,000 for the term commencing July 1, 2023 and ending June 30, 2026, and
WHEREAS, The Public Defender has indicated that the funding will provide salary and fringe support for one attorney representing indigent clients in criminal court proceedings, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services regarding the Fourth Upstate Quality Improvement and Caseload Reduction Grant in the amount of $300,000 for the term commencing July 1, 2023 and ending June 30, 2026, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
