ESTABLISHING A POLICY FOR THE NAMING AND DEDICATION OF COUNTY-OWNED BUILDINGS

WHEREAS, Pursuant to County Law § 215, the general care and control of corporate real and personal property of the County of Albany, including the naming of such real property, is the responsibility of the Albany County Legislature, and
WHEREAS, Throughout its history, the Albany County Legislature has dedicated various County-owned buildings and spaces in honor of exceptional people who have made a lasting impact in Albany County, and
WHEREAS, The Albany County Legislature wishes to formalize this practice by establishing an official policy for the naming and dedication of County-owned buildings and spaces, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature, that the naming and/or dedication of any County-owned buildings or spaces shall require the adoption of a resolution by the Albany County Legislature naming and/or dedicating the same, prior to its use under the new name, and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
