AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO ESTABLISH THE ALBANY COUNTY BEVERAGE TRAIL AND AMENDING THE 2022 ALBANY COUNTY BUDGET

WHEREAS, It is in the interest of Albany County to establish a craft beverage trail with appropriate support and signage under the auspice of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Cuisine Trail, and

WHEREAS, New York State Agriculture and Markets Law ? 284-a allows certain associations of producers to constitute farm, apple and/or cuisine trails to promote greater agricultural marketing and promotional opportunities for agriculture producers located in in trails, and

WHEREAS, Albany County is home to a variety of craft beverage production businesses, which can all benefit from a trail designation as it relates to attracting patrons or tourists, increasing patronage of association member businesses and expanding the marketing capabilities of all trail members, and

WHEREAS, The benefits experienced by our agricultural producers and associated business community will extend to the entire population of the County, as it boosts the local economy, and

WHEREAS, To further support this initiative the Albany County Legislature hereby authorizes the transfer of $30,000 in the 2022 Budget to the Department of Public Works budget to create wayfinding to all participating establishments, and it is the intent of the Albany County Legislature to include money for this initiative in the 2023 County Budget for advertising, enhancement and support for the new trail, including, but not limited to, creating a digital passport, an online drop page and any other support that may be deemed necessary.
