AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE OFFICE OF INDIGENT LEGAL SERVICES REGARDING THE FIFTH COUNSEL AT FIRST APPEARANCE GRANT

                     WHEREAS, The Public Defender has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services regarding the Fifth Counsel at First Appearance grant in the amount of $749,700 for the term commencing January 1, 2026 and ending December 31, 2028, and

 

                     WHEREAS, The Public Defender has indicated that this grant will allow for the continuation of the Counsel at First Appearance program, now, therefore, be it

 

                     RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized enter into an agreement with the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services regarding the Fifth Counsel at First Appearance grant in the amount of $749,700 for the term commencing January 1, 2026 and ending December 31, 2028, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
