WHEREAS, Over the last three years, the youth and residents of the County of Albany have spent more time outdoors at parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities enjoying fresh air and exercise when it was otherwise difficult because of the pandemic, and

WHEREAS, The 2023 Albany County Budget set aside money to improve the quality of life of the residents of the County through the Albany County Improvement Initiative, and

WHEREAS, Investing in our parks, playgrounds and recreational facilities throughout the county is vital to the enjoyment residents get from those features of our communities, and

WHEREAS, The Department of Parks and Recreation provides recreational programing, including facility development, to the citizens of Albany County, through a comprehensive approach that combines effective programming and experienced staff, now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, The Department of Parks and Recreation is hereby authorized to establish a program for the development of parks, playgrounds and recreational facilities throughout the County, to the extent possible under General Municipal Law ? 119-o to help improve the lives of the residents and visitors of the County of Albany, and, be it further

RESOLVED, That the Department of Parks and Recreation is further authorized to work with municipalities within Albany County to determine which parks, playground and recreational facilities would best be served through funding from the Albany County Improvement Initiative, and, be it further
