RESOLUTION NO. 204

 

AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH HOMELESS AND TRAVELERS AID SOCIETY REGARDING HOMELESS HOUSING EMERGENCY SERVICES

 

                     Introduced:  7/12/21

                     By Social Services Committee:

 

WHEREAS, Pursuant to New York State Social Services Law, local social services districts are required to provide emergency and transitional shelter to public assistance eligible homeless individuals and families, and

 

                     WHEREAS, The Department of Social Services through the County Purchasing Agent issued a Request For Proposal for Homeless Housing and Emergency Services and one bid was received, and

 

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department of Social Services has requested authorization to enter into an agreement with Homeless and Travelers Aid Society (HATAS) as the sole bidder for the provision of afterhours homeless housing emergency services in an amount not to exceed $134,955 for a term commencing October 1, 2021 and ending September 30, 2022, and

 

                     WHEREAS, The Commissioner has indicated that HATAS will serve individuals and families during non-business hours who present as homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness by assisting them to access needed emergency shelter or diverting them from homelessness by retaining or securing adequate housing, now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into an agreement with HATAS, Albany NY 12206 for the provision of afterhours homeless housing emergency services  in an amount not to exceed $134,955 for a term commencing October 1, 2021 and ending September 30, 2022, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
