AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO AND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR THE FY2024 HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TARGETED GRANT PROGRAM AND AMENDING THE 2026 SHERIFF'S OFFICE BUDGET

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has requested authorization to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services regarding the FY2024 Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Targeted Grant Program in an amount of $62,646 for a term commencing April 1, 2026 and ending August 31, 2027, and

 

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has indicated that the Sheriff’s Office will act as fiduciary to provide the HazMat teams in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties with funding for training, equipment acquisition, equipment calibration and maintenance costs, and

WHEREAS, The Sheriff has also requested a budget amendment to incorporate the FY2024 HazMat Grant funding into the 2026 Sheriff’s Office Budget, now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to submit a grant application to and enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services regarding FY2024 HazMat Targeted Grant Program in an amount of $62,646 for a term commencing April 1, 2026 and ending August 31, 2027, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the 2026 Sheriff’s Office Budget is hereby amended as follows:

 

 

and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, That the County Attorney is authorized to approve said agreement as to form and content, and, be it further

 

                     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the County Legislature is directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the appropriate County Officials.
