AMENDING THE ALBANY COUNTY LEGISLATIVE RULES OF ORDER

WHEREAS, The Albany County Legislature is required to meet every two years for the purpose of organization and for the transaction of such other business as may come before it, and

WHEREAS, Rule 1 of the Legislative Rules of Order requires that such organizational meeting be held at 7:30 p.m. on the first Monday following the first day of January, except that in years following the election of the Legislators the meeting shall be held on the first day of January at 12:00 noon, and

WHEREAS, A uniform starting time of 7:00 p.m. on the first Monday following the first day of January will meet the needs of the Legislators and the public, and

WHEREAS, Legislators should receive notice at least five days in advance of the organizational meeting, now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature, that Rule 1 of the Rules of Order is hereby amended as follows:

"RULE 1 - ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

The meeting of the County Legislature for the selection of a Chairman and the transaction of other business relative to organization, pursuant to Section 203 of the Albany County Charter, shall be held each even numbered year at [7:30] 7:00 p.m. in the William J. Conboy II Legislative Chambers of the County Legislature on the first Monday following the first day of January [except that in each and every year following the election of the Legislators, the meeting shall be held in the Chambers of the Legislature on the first day of January at 12:00 noon].
