AUTHORIZING AGREEMENTS WITH VARIOUS AGENCIES REGARDING THE FACILITATION OF SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAMILY FIRST PREVENTION SERVICES ACT

WHEREAS, In 2018, New York State signed into legislation the Family First Prevention Services Act, the goal of the legislation is to reduce the number of children in congregate care, increase the number of kinship and foster care homes, and promote interventions that keep children safely at home with relatives or in the community whenever possible, and

WHEREAS, The aforementioned legislation requires that a child is placed in a qualified residential treatment program within 30 days of the start of each placement in congregate care and assessed by a licensed clinician or qualified individual (QI) to determine the appropriate level of care toward permanency, and

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of the Department for Children, Youth and Families has requested authorization to enter into agreements with the following New York State Office of Children and Family Services approved QI providers for the facilitation of services associated with the Family First Prevention Services Act:

RESOLVED, By the Albany County Legislature that the County Executive is authorized to enter into agreements with the aforementioned New York State Office of Children and Family Services approved QI providers for the facilitation of services associated with the Family First Prevention Services Act, at no cost to the County, for a term commencing September 1, 2021 and ending August 31, 2022, and, be it further
